Whilst browsing the news, I found a reasonably interesting article on the BBC website regarding how someone created an AI to solve crossword puzzles.
This immediately seemed a bit too simple, but after reading it properly, it turns out that American Crosswords are actually pretty complex for a computer to solve.
Anyway, towards the end of the article it raised an interesting point about how he pre-agreed to not accept any prize money if the AI won the crossword competition. This got me thinking – at what point do we go from the current perception (your tech is separate from you) to being one with your tech?
Eventually, things like quizzes wont make sense anymore, because we will probably all have some direct link to the internet whereby any question is automatically answered, when we get here – does the idea of a quiz still make sense?
I also see similarities with Hedge Funds, Investors and Day Traders. If/when computers are able to outperform people at these tasks, do we end up in a world where the prices on the stock market are controlled by which bot can predict what the others bots are going to do? What does this actually mean?
Then we have sports to consider, how long before (probably in E-Sports first) we have people who are supporting an AI player, initially vs people but then VS other AI – maybe there will even be a self-driving car racing series in real life – what do you think?
