A note from the author:
This book is something I have been working on for many years, during the COVID-19 pandemic I used the time in lockdown to get it finished and published.
It all started after one, simple discussion I was having about Bitcoin. A friend of mine commented that Bitcoin had no value because it wasn’t “backed by gold”. I then replied how the pound sterling we use in the UK hasn’t been backed by gold for years, yet we still accept our wages in pounds!
In that moment I wondered – why does money actually have value?
After that relatively short conversation, I realised that the world needed to know. Ultimately money gets its value from the agreement that we will all accept it and in return provide something of equal value. I wanted to create something that everyone could pick up and after reading it would know a bit about all of the key areas of finance, with a fresh perspective.
